Live Performances: More Value Than You Think

Shen Yun Performing Arts Live Performance Samples:

When was the last time you enjoyed a live performance? Well if it’s been longer than you can remember, you’re really missing out on the wonders of an amazing cultural experience. Whether you are listening to a free community band or symphony, enjoying a college or university ensemble or have paid tickets to your favorite artist, the experience is better than ever.

With so much access to music and performances online some people have decided to skip the live performances and just stay home. That may be the most convenient way to enjoy culture but when all is said and done you are really missing out on the best of any performance. There is definitely more value and pleasure when you attend a live performance.

Going to a live performance is an engaging process that starts with getting ready. What will you wear? Who will you go with? Will you go to dinner before or after? Will you go with your children? How will you get there? Will you drive or will you take the train or will you take a taxi? Is this an outside performance? Can you take a picnic and enjoy food plus drink?  The answers to these questions and more all add to your interactive experience with a live performance.

Watching a live performance stimulates your senses unlike a recorded performance. You can see, hear, smell and feel so much more than just watching at home. You can see who else is in the audience, you can hear the chatter that takes place before the show, you can smell the auditorium, the food at the concession stands and you get to feel the texture of the seats or the grass if the show is outside. So much more than just watching the recorded performances.

But that’s not all. Attending a live performance is thought provoking, it can help with your understanding of the artists and develop a love for the arts. It encourages creativity in ways just watching a recorded performance just cannot match. Watching a live performance helps preserve a people’s cultural heritage while also helping them understand and experience other cultures better.

For children, the benefits are almost endless.
